Delusion. Arka Gallery

April 2022, Vladivostok

"The key role of mass media and new media in the development of society and the individual, within the context of the idea of modernist progress and its progressive development, became a stepping stone for Vladivostok artist Tanya Nelmina's first solo exhibition at the "Arka" gallery. The artist explores the specificities of the millennial "kidult" generation and raises the question of what it means to be an adult and the price of refusing to grow up in a society, tightly bound by stereotypes.

Her artistic practice constantly alternates between the use of tangible materials such as clay, fabric, grains, plastic, silicone, and digital media - graphics or video. Puppet animation becomes the ultimate embodiment of this material "flickering," simultaneously being highly handcrafted, "material," and intangible, elusive, maintaining the elusive effect of watching a film. The author highlights the shift in communication paradigms in the modern world, blurring the boundaries not only between adults and children but also between the physical and virtual worlds, revealing the illusory nature of our reality."
